1st Day
You will leave on the coastal road along the SARONIC GULF to the CORINTH CANAL, which connects the Aegean with the Ionian Sea, where you will have a short stop.
Driving to
Mycenae, the Homeric city of the Atreides, the city "rich in gold" of the ancient poets, you will have the opportunity to visit the LIONS GATE, the CYCLOPEAN WALLS and the ROYAL TOMBS.
Then proceed to the famous theatre of
Epidavros.
You will stay overnight in
Nafplion, where you will also have dinner.
2nd Day
In the morning you will drive through the Central
Peloponnese, Arcadia, the home of Pan and the Nymphs and the towns of
Tripoli and Megalopoli, to
Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games.
Visit the Sanctuary of OLYMPIAN ZEUS and the Museum.
You will stay overnight in Olympia or in the vicinity thereof, where you will also have dinner.
3rd Day
Drive through the plains of ELIAD and ACHAIA, through
Patras, the capital of the Peloponnese and take the car-ferry across the "Little Dardanelles" from RIO to ANTRIO.
Crossing the picturesque town of NAFPAKTOS (Lepanto) you will stop at the seaside areas of GALAXIDI or ITEA for an optional lunch.
After lunch visit the Monastery of the PROPHET ELIAS and then arriving in
Delphi you will visit CASTALIA SPRING and the SANCTUARY of ATHENA PRONAIA.
Overnight stay in DELPHI or ARACHOVA, where you will also have dinner.
4th Day
In the morning visit the SANCTUARY of APOLLO PYTHIOS and the MUSEUM and then drive through the village of ARACHOVA, renowned for its colourful rugs and carpets.
You will depart for KALAMBAKA, passing through the splendid villages and towns of
Central Greece.
Later you will have dinner and stay overnight.
5th Day
You will visit
METEORA and enjoy the unique and most impressive scenery with its historic and ageless MONASTERIES, containing priceless historical and religious treasures, standing as they do between earth and sky atop huge rocks.
Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (where you will visit leonidas Monument) and
Kamena Vourla.
You will reach Athens in the early evening.
